A Factory Working, College Grad Getting Out of Debt

May’s Clutter-busting Challenge Days 1-3 = 34 ITEMS!

Alright, before I give you my May goals, I’d like to focus on one specifically.  Actually, I guess it would be more like two of them as I think about it.  One of my goals for May is to get rid of 20 items or more during this month.  Coincidentally, I found a couple of blogs this past week that was talking about another’s clutter busting challenge.  This challenge is to get rid of 7 things each weekday during May.  Now this is whether you’re selling, donating, or just tossing the item(s) out, and as I am in need of getting my room in order for my brother’s graduation (lots of family going to be staying over), I figured I would accept the challenge as I cleaned things. This is of course instead of tidying things up and just leaving the junk around, a habit that I sadly picked up a long time ago when I was a child.  I had to catch up for the month, so I started full gear in making up for days 1-3 of the challenge!

Here’s my items:

To be thrown away:

  • 5 broken pieces of jewelry
  • 17 well used pokemon cards

To be donated:

  • 4 Wizard magazines
  • 1 Inspirational Book

Other:

  • 7 Dragonrider’s of Pern books – these will be going on my mother’s bookshelves so that my (future) children, nieces & nephews can enjoy these when they come to visit Grandma.  I am a great fan of the late Anne McCaffrey, and feel that these will have a better chance of being read by more Rainy Day prosperity than just staying on my shelves.

Total: 34 items!

Huzzah! I love the fact that I’m finally getting the excuse I need to work on my room.  If it means keeping tabs every couple of days by posting the hauls on this blog, then all the more motivation!  I really want to thank True Whit for introducing me to this challenge and Money Saving Mom’s blog.  You’re helping me kick the pack rat out of me!

I challenge my readers to do the same, as this challenge will definitely help you get through some of those things that you’ve been putting off… And if you do, please link your blog post here, because I am totally interested in seeing what we can all accomplish this month!
