Goal Achievement Report – April 2013

Alright, let’s see what I was able to accomplish!

Money Goals

  • Find a few ways for this Rainy Day blog to make some funds, however small it may be…
  • Find a new way of making money.
  • Finish last commission on list and take new ones (5).
  • Sell unneeded items on ebay and amazon to make extra $.
  • To make enough money this month to pay my car payment ($301) AND half of my June car insurance money.
  • To spend less than $100 on me.
  • To find a job.

Watching the comic book shop for my friend went great!  In fact, I was able to save over $90 worth of comic books thanks to my great friend and the deal he offered to me.  In case you’re reading this, thanks again so much!  I think that although I wasn’t being handed cash, this qualifies in finding a new way to make some monetary gain as I am completely square with my subscription list now at the comic book shop. While I was there, I was able to finish my last commission and will have it sent out to my buddy in Baltimore by the end of this week.  I want to be sure that I scan it and add it onto my online portfolio.

Sadly, Amazon and Ebay have been very neglectful to my piggy bank this month.  To give you an idea, only 5 items sold from my Amazon shop in the past two weeks.  That’s it!  Man is it driving me nuts!  HOWEVER! I only $79.21 this month!  That means I was under my $100 goal and all is well!

I also have an interview on Monday for a potential lucrative job, and was asked for further information from another possible employer this week as well.  So.. keeping my fingers crossed!

Rainy Day Goals

  • Convert my brother’s, my guy’s, and my own music to the existing external hard drive for easy access.
  • Organize my dvd/blu-ray collection.
  • Get rid of at LEAST 20 items this month, via selling, donation, or throw-away.
  • To continue organizing my room for optimal business format/personal use.
  • Hack my journal into an accessible planner/organizer.
  • Go through my books and see what items I will sell/donate.
  • Start to get the house ready for a graduation party (my brother’s).

The only one that has been done on this list is the last one.  I’ve been so dedicated to cleaning, organizing, and painting to get ready for the graduation party that I haven’t done much else.  A lot of household chores are getting done instead, and a lot of my own “goals” are falling to the wayside.  Perhaps I should do something about this?  Spend 30 minutes every other day on one of these goals next month?  What do you think?

Personal Goals

  • Continue the MWF posts for Rainy Day & Gamer Talk.
  • Add a Paypal button for tips or purchases on this blog and Gamer Talk for donations.
  • Create logos/banners for both blogs.
  • Add artwork to various art sites and sell my artwork online.
  • Continue my art blog.
  • Refine my gamer podcast and restart it.
  • Participate in Move Your Ass Challenge
  • Blow my 100 mile goal for MYAC out of the water.
  • Lose 20 pounds.

I’m participating in MYAC, and man, that 100 mile goal was unrealistic for the first month.  I will honestly be happy if I get to 30 miles at this point. I think next month I’ll move it to 45 and we’ll progress from there.  The pounds aren’t necessarily shedding either, but the inches seem to be.  My clothing feels just a little bit looser, and I can comfortably be in my bridesmaid dress.  I have to kick things into gear though on the rest of this stuff.  I think that my weekly goal of mowing the lawn will be a big kicker for me in the exercise department as we have a big enough lawn that it takes me about 4 hours to mow.  I’m hoping I can shave that down to 3 1/2 next week depending on the heat.

Well, it seems I’ve been really lazy when it comes to my own goals, but when it comes to the house, landscaping, and prep for graduation party, I’ve been rocking it.  Now if only I could start getting these pounds to shed…

What should I add to my goal list?  Am I being a little too optimistic in trying to get a bunch of things done?  Of all of the ones I did NOT finish, which one should I crack down upon and accomplish in May?

Goal Achievement Report – March 2013

Time to see what all I achieved this month! Honestly, I feel like I didn’t do much, but maybe I’ll be surprised.

Money Goals

  • Find a few ways for this Rainy Day blog to make some funds, however small it may be…
  • Sell unneeded items on ebay and amazon to make extra $.
  • To make enough money this month to pay my car payment ($301).
  • To spend less than $100 on me.
  • To find a job.

Unfortunately, I had no luck on the ebay front this month, so that hindered me earning enough money from sales to pay off my car payment.  I DID however make enough from sales in February to take care of the bridesmaid dress! That made me extremely happy. I also bombed the $100 and finding a job goals.  So, according to all of this, I really bombed the Money goals.

Rainy Day Goals

  • Convert my mother’s music to an external hard drive for easy access.
  • Organize my dvd/blu-ray collection.
  • Get rid of at LEAST 20 items this month, via selling, donation, or throw-away.
  • To continue organizing my room for optimal business format/personal use.

SUCCESS on the music to an external hard drive! In fact, I’m so happy with it right now, especially since we have so much more space on the 3TB drive that I’m also going to be converting my own, my brother’s, AND my guy’s to the hard drive as well!  20 items would have been easy had my sales on amazon and ebay gone better, but unfortunately this was also a bust.  The task for my mother’s music was daunting and I didn’t have the time to get my dvd/blu-ray collection organized.  Perhaps next month.

Personal Goals

  • Continue the MWF posts for Rainy Day & Gamer Talk.
  • Create a notebook/planner for each blog.
  • Create logos for both blogs.
  • Add artwork to various art sites and sell my artwork online.
  • Continue my art blog.
  • Refine my gamer podcast and restart it.
  • Lose 15 pounds.

Well, the Rainy Day was diligently given care.  And now that I have bought a notebook to hack for a planner, I’ll be able to jot ideas down when the mood strikes me.  My artwork didn’t go as planned, and I learned a key lesson on commissions, but don’t worry, I have a plan for getting my money and time back on that one.  The podcast was on hiatus as I was dedicating myself to the music project.  Oh, and I lost 12 pounds, but gained 4 back… that looks to be muscle weight however as my pants are slowly getting looser and my arms are getting more toned.  Hopefully this keeps working.

Overall, I still have a LOT of work to do, but I’m hoping that April brings me luck.  What about you? Did you have any monthly goals and achieve them?  Let me know, I do so love hearing from you and your experiences.  Every comment brightens my day!

Goal Achievement Report – January 2013

Time to see how much I’ve achieved since last month.  I haven’t looked at this since the progress report, and honestly, I’m a little nervous.  I can see what those big shindig scientific studies mean when they say that the month of January is perhaps one of the most depressing.  I had very little motivation almost the entire month, and ended up slacking a little bit on the posts for the blog here.  I apologize for that, but as I said before, I’m back in the game and am hoping to get things going again.  Shall we have a look see at the failures?

Money Goals

  • Find a few ways for this Rainy Day blog to make some funds, however small it may be…
  • Sell unneeded items on ebay and amazon to make extra $.
  • To make enough money this month to pay my car payment ($301).
  • To make enough money to pay all my bills without hurting my savings account too much.
  • To find a job.

Alright, bad news first. No job, and I hit the savings account a little bit last month (by $131) because of the bills.  I’ve made adjustments to accommodate and I have put in nearly 100 applications in at various places and am still waiting.  I DID find a way to make money on Rainy Day, but that has been delayed until I find a decent enough theme for Rainy Day.  I guess I’m just too picky.  I also made enough money to pay my car payment and am continuing in the downsizing project and selling things on ebay and amazon to make money.  I even reopened my etsy site last month and with the help of my mother, we’re trying to sell jewelry, upcycled and/or vintage items.  Please have a look at every site, especially the etsy… I’m still looking for the first sale there.

Rainy Day Goals

  • Help my mother organize/clean the home.
  • Organize my dvd/blu-ray collection.
  • Organize the shipping supplies.
  • Get rid of unneeded items that can either not be sold or donated.
  • To continue organizing my room for optimal business format/personal use.

The shipping supplies have been organized! And a post will show that soon!  My dvd/blu-ray collection however… not so much, but I DID organize a part of my mother’s collection that is currently residing in our entertainment center in the living room.  It looks SO MUCH better!  Series and seasons are grouped together as well as all the Christmas movies have a shelf of their own.  So.. can that count?  The getting rid of unneeded items is always a continuous project in my life, and I am happy to say I took out two trash bags last month that could not be donated or sold to the trash! I admit I’m a bit of a pack rat when it comes to old mail and school work, and a lot has been cleared out!  Again, the continuous organization of my room is still in the works..

  • Lose 10 pounds.

Okay… here’s the category that I really lacked on… Took a small break with the blog posts, no notebook/planners, no logos (only sketches), some artwork was added, but not much, art blog not updated, podcast not restarted… Ouch.  I did not do well on this one at ALL!  However, the only thing I can say I accomplished, is.. as of today I have lost 6.6 pounds since starting watching what I eat mid-way through January.  That’s good right? Right?

*Deep Breath*

Well, overall.. I’m not proud of January.  And that was a hard to face myself moment.  I do not think I tried at all in working on these goals and I know I should have tried harder.  However there is February, and I’m glad for that.  But goodness! We’re already mid-way through, I don’t think I’ll be making any big goals for this month.  Instead, I’ll probably focus on working on the 1001 things to do in 101 days this month instead.  What do you think?

Goal Achievement Report – November 2012

Well, November has come and gone and with it my goals for the month.  Perhaps it’s time to see what all progressed. At the mid-month report, this is what had been accomplished at the point:

  • Every bill has been paid, and a massive chunk of one credit card bill was eliminated.
  • My filing cabinets have finally come back upstairs and are put together and placed in my room.
  • Speaking of my room, it is MUCH closer to being finished in its full cleaning.
  • My Expense Sheet has been fully updated so that I can see what I have been spending this month
  • I have been able to save money for next month’s whirlwind of expenses.

The rest of November consisted of:

  • Putting up the Christmas tree/decorations
  • Getting prepped and fully ready for Christmas season with my Amazon shop (which you can find here).
  • Stocking/Packing/Shipping items for my Amazon shop
  • Looking for a job
  • Working on my room organization (this one may never be fully accomplished).
  • Putting my (rather large) stack of handwritten addresses and phone numbers into an excel sheet.

Needless to say, it might not seem like much, but considering that I was working full-time for most of the month, I see it as a huge accomplishment.  I’m enjoying unemployment life (as I’m able to help my mother during her recovery period from knee surgery) and I find myself getting a lot done because of it.  Hopefully I do find a job soon, but if I can find a way of paying the bills and adding to the savings account without much hassle, that would be all the more sweeter.
