So I’m paying rent now. Yup.. this girl has the life-sustaining job and can now help more financially around the house. I’m absolutely fine with that as I’ve wanted and tried to help around the house for years now. For example, the first time I got a real job, I made sure that I was able to take on the auto insurance even though my mother said I didn’t have to do so. I know that it was only $700 for the year, but we’d just had to take a 43% pay cut in the household because the owners had sold their business to a new one and hard decisions had to be made. So that measly $700 was a big deal. And I’ve made sure that I was always able to pay it, even when I was unemployed.
I sat down with my momma and we had a good talk about what was going to happen. After about five minutes, we’d already had our agreement ironed out and both were happy with the results.
Here’s the deal:
- Rent = $150/month.
- This can be paid through home improvement projects.
- Pay my part of the cellphone bill = $50/month.
- Pay the remaining balance on my cellphone (long story, and I’ll share it with you soon).
Sounds like a pretty good deal right? Well let me tell you, I am paid up in rent until December 2014. That’s right. I bought my mom a custom made island that we’re hopefully going to hear has been shipped to the store soon. I can’t wait to see it in the house! The island has been something she’s been wanting since we moved to this house nearly a decade ago.
I’ve got a few more tricks up my sleeve that will surprise my momma though. A few changes have happened recently that reduced the amount of money coming into the house so I’m going to see what I can do in sneaky ways to make it less of a hassle.
Count those Raindrops!
